Measuring the Impact
Freshwater ecosystems are home to many aquatic organisms. Submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) including mosses and underwater grasses provide shelter and food for a variety of fish and insect larvae. Worms, insect larvae, crustaceans and other macroinvertebrates live in the stream bed. Frogs, turtles and salamanders live in freshwater streams during some part of their lives. Freshwater ecosystems provide a home for many fish and serve as a spawning ground for anadromous fish that normally live in salt water.
What impact will global climate change have on these unique ecosystems?
