Position Requirements:
The Science Museum of Virginia, a dynamic, ever-changing interactive museum, seeks a Procurement Officer I to coordinate and control the agency’s central procurement needs, ensuring compliance with state/federal laws and regulations while fully utilizing SWaM and eVA as appropriate. This position will facilitate best practices for the areas of procurement, review requests for proposals & contract administration as well as performing fixed assets & lease accounting in DOA’s FAACS & LAS systems. The individual will provide eVA guidance and training as needed to agency personnel; prepare procurement reports; and control surplus property disposition and documentation.  This demanding position will involve significant collaboration and teamwork across the organization requiring unilateral cooperation and a willingness to support critical mission activities in a fast paced environment.

Qualifications:
The selected individual must demonstrate considerable knowledge of the principles & practices of governmental procurement for goods, equipment, & services; as well as the policies and procedures contained in the DPS Agency Procurement & Surplus Property Manual; contracting procedures; The Virginia Public Procurement Act; and other related laws and regulations.  Requires proven proficiency in the use of personal computers and related word processing & spreadsheet software.  Successful candidate will demonstrate hands on experience and considerable knowledge of the Commonwealth’s Request for Proposals & Invitation for Bid processes; demonstrated ability to independently interpret and apply policies and procedures; and the ability to analyze complex contract data and compile reports are required. A proficiency in the eVA purchasing system is strongly preferred. A bachelor’s degree in a related field; VCO, CPPO or CFBB are preferred or an equivalent combination of training, education and relevant work experience.  Must have a proven history of collaboration and teamwork combined with a strong commitment to service delivery. Hiring range is $40,000-$50,000. This is a full-time position with benefits. The selected candidate must pass a criminal background check.

Position Requirements:
The Science Museum of Virginia is seeking dynamic and highly motivated individuals to serve as Special Events Coordinators to assist our clients with special events such as weddings, proms and other formal dances, concerts, receptions, and more at our historical museum located on West Broad Street and our Aviation Museum located at Richmond’s International Airport.  These part-time positions are actively engaged in making these events come to life by serving as the event’s primary point of contact for the vendors (caterers, entertainment, etc.); setting up of stages, chairs, tables, AV needs and other equipment as directed by clients; clean up and resets of the facility to including moving and assembling equipment as needed; assisting and greeting guests; and securing the facility at the conclusion of the event.  These events are routinely scheduled on evenings, weekends and holidays.  Candidates can expect to work approx. 20 to 32 hours per week depending upon the number of events booked within the facility.

Qualifications:
Must have proven experience in special event coordination and facilitation.  Requires a proven ability to effectively communicate with a diverse group of clients involving both oral and written communication skills; be detail oriented with a demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal hands-on supervision.  Proven experience providing outstanding customer service is required for this position.  Candidates must work evenings, weekends and holidays and the position will involve the ability to physically set up and assemble tables, stages, chairs and other event equipment as needed.  A valid Virginia driver's license and a Criminal Background check is required. 

No state benefits are provided and maximum of 1500 hours may be in a 12 month period.

The Science Museum of Virginia seeks a skilled leader to serve as Director of Administration & Finance, responsible for the sound fiscal management practices and efficient administrative service areas of this state agency. The Director of Administration & Finance manages  budget development & oversight; federal grants; enterprises;  accounts payable and receivable; payroll and human resources services; procurement services; and organizational strategies for measuring and evaluating organizational results and effectiveness.  The Science Museum of Virginia is a complex, statewide entity comprised of three separate public locations, an historic home and two independent fundraising foundations all dedicated to inspiring Virginians to enrich their lives through science.

Qualifications:
Considerable knowledge of budget process, resource management, and financial planning/reporting required. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage all fiscal resources and perform financial planning and analysis. Proven experience developing and implementing policies and procedures and strategic planning initiatives. Must demonstrate considerable experience supervising and managing a professional staff with exceptional interpersonal skills to establish strong and reliable professional relationships in the museum community and state government. Must communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Excellent presentation skills required.  Requires proven proficiency using IT resources and financial management software applications to establish efficient operational practices.  Must have a proven history of collaboration and teamwork combined with a strong commitment to service delivery.  The selected candidate must pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in business, finance or a related field, CPA preferred.  Successful candidates will demonstrate a history of successful organizational performance in the areas of audit, fiscal management, payroll, HR, procurement and other areas requiring internal controls.  Working knowledge of the Commonwealth’s budget and accounting processes to include the management of special revenues and expenditures is highly desirable as well as hands on experience developing and executing ARMICS standards.  Salary is commensurate with relevant work experience.
