Panel members include Dr. Robert Dunton, Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Medical Director and Senior Surgeon, Bon Secours Heart and Heart Institute Medical Director, Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center; Dr. John Quillin, Assistant Professor of Human and Molecular Genetics, School of Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University; Dr. Maghboeba Mosavel, Associate Professor, Department of Social and Behavioral Health, Virginia Commonwealth University. The Museum is holding this conversation in association with RACE: Are We So Different?, a groundbreaking exhibition which examines the topic from scientific, historical and cultural perspectives. STEM Essay Contest STEM Essay Contest
Virginia First Lady Maureen McDonnell, the Virginia Council on the Status of Women and the Science Museum of Virginia invite essay submissions from high school junior and senior women on their aspirations for pursuing a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) career. The winner will receive a $5,000 college scholarship and will be announced at the Science Museum of Virginia's Up & Atom Women's Leadership Breakfast on May 16, 2012.
