Financial Services Specialist I/Cashier

The Science Museum of Virginia seeks a cashier to perform the daily processing of money collected from admissions and concessions. This position is responsible for the preparation of daily deposit reports and the verification of cash, checks, credit cards, billing and membership sales against supporting documents and reports. Qualifications: Knowledge of both accounting and bookkeeping principles and practices; knowledge of cash receipt management and control; experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word; and knowledge of cash handling procedures. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Paciolan ticketing system and coursework in bookkeeping are preferred. This is a wage position; therefore would work 20-25 hours per week. The anticipated starting pay rate is $15 to $20 per hour. Guest Services Specialist

Guest Services Specialist needed to offer superior customer service to all guests of the Danville Science Center through careful management of daily operations of the admission desk and gift store; coordination, recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers; proper handling of money, receipts and reports; and assisting with marketing and sales. Work closely with other DSC staff; provide cash control and associated paperwork; handle all aspects of group registrations and complete other related tasks as needed. Qualifications: experience in museum or similar institution; customer service and supervisory experience; computer literacy; cash handling experience - preferably in a retail environment; pro-active problem-solving skills; and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences. Bachelor's or Associate's degree and valid driver's license required. Anticipated starting salary is $23999. This is a full-time, Tuesday-Saturday position.
