Camp-In Overnight Coordinator

The Education Department at the Science Museum of Virginia is seeking a Camp In Overnight Coordinator to help supervise overnight program, including duties such as: registering participants, answering questions, organizing events, preparing materials. Oversee staff, teachers, volunteers and program participants. Perform inventory, handle materials distribution, supervise program set-up and clean-up. Ensure highest-quality participant experience. Qualifications include experience managing programs or events. Experience handling multiple tasks and problem solving. Has worked with children or teenagers in an instructional or supervisory manner. Experience with customer service. Able to work independently or as a part of a multidiciplinary team. Science background or teaching experience. Must be responsible, organized and detail-oriented. The anticipated pay range is. Approximately 15 – 20 hours per week. Must be available days, nights, and weekends throughout the school year and in the summer. Guest Services Technician

The Science Museum of Virginia seeks a Guest Services Representative. Duties: Selling tickets to groups, members, and the general public; Greeting and orienting groups upon their arrival in the museum; Calculating daily revenues and completing reports accurately and thoroughly; Monitoring exhibits and other public areas, helping to maintain a safe environment conducive to learning; Assisting visitors as they enter and exit the theater; Providing superior customer service at all times. Cafe Portico & Concessions Clerk

The Science Museum of Virginia seeks a part-time sales clerk for the Café Portico and IMAX Dome concessions stand to provide excellent customer service while assisting Museum guests with refreshments in a quick but courteous manner, accurately operate the cash register while performing various sales transactions in a fast-paced environment; stock and keep work area clean and well organized; be responsible for opening and closing procedures. The ideal candidate must enjoy working with the public, be self motivated and work well independently and as a team member. Qualifications: Prior experience in customer service; opening and closing duties and cash register operations are required. Prior experience in a retail food service and/or specialty retail environment. Excellent problem solving and oral communication skills are required. Ability to lift 50 pounds is required. Weekday, weekend, nights and holiday availability is required. Hours range from 15-30 per week. The Danville Science Center seeks dependable individual to implement specific Science Center education programs and to support visitor service function of the Science Center. Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service, working with diverse groups in a variety of settings, working with children and their families in an educational setting, insuring security and safety for visitors, and supporting daily operations through tasks such as accurate processing of visitor check-in and store sales as needed. The successful candidate will be able to work independently, operate cash register and personal computer, and maintain a high level of awareness and responsibility in a dynamic environment. This position is approximately 20 hours per week. Schedule may vary week to week depending on Science Center activities. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. High school diploma with two years of post high school study and/or experience in science, math or education required. Experience working in an educational setting with children preferred.
