Cafe Portico/Concessions Clerk

The Science Museum of Virginia seeks a part-time sales clerk for the Café Portico and IMAX Dome concessions stand to provide excellent customer service while assisting Museum guests with refreshments in a quick but courteous manner, accurately operate the cash register while performing various sales transactions in a fast-paced environment; stock and keep work area clean and well organized; be responsible for opening and closing procedures. The ideal candidate must enjoy working with the public, be self motivated and work well independently and as a team member. Qualifications: Prior experience in customer service; opening and closing duties and cash register operations are required. Prior experience in a retail food service and/or specialty retail environment. Excellent problem solving and oral communication skills are required. Ability to lift 50 pounds is required. Weekday, weekend, nights and holiday availability is required. Hours range from 15-30 per week. The following qualifications are preferred: barista experience, enjoy working with children, and comfortable working with crowds in a fast-paced environment. This is an hourly position that includes a Museum membership. The anticipated starting rate is $9.65 per hour. The Science Museum of Virginia seeks a Procurement Officer to coordinate the central procurement function ensuring compliance with all applicable state laws and regulations. This individual would also be responsible for ensuring that the Museum’s needs for supplies, equipment, and services are maximized utilizing the competitive process; providing eVA guidance and training as needed; preparing procurement reports; and controlling surplus property disposition. QUALIFICATIONS: The selected individual should possess knowledge of the principles & practices of governmental procurement for goods, equipment, & services; policies and procedures contained in the DPS Agency Procurement & Surplus Property Manual; contracting procedures; the Virginia Public Procurement Act; as well as other related laws and regulations. Skill in the use of personal computers and related word processing and spreadsheet software; knowledge of the Commonwealth’s Request for Proposals and Invitation for Bid processes; demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures; and the ability to analyze data and compile reports are required. A proficiency in the eVA purchasing system is preferred. A Bachelors degree in a related field; three years experience working with a procurement program; VCO; CPPO; and/or CFFB are preferred. Anticipated pay range is $40,959 to $45,959 annually. This is a full-time position with benefits.
