WE’LL COME TO YOU! The Science Museum of Virginia brings science fun and learning to schools, libraries, day-care centers, PTA meetings, community events, fairs and festivals, Scout events, summer camps and more throughout Virginia. Our hands-on workshops and exhibits are correlated with the Virginia Standards of Learning.
A touring production of the Carpenter Science Theatre Company’s “Shakespeare and Galileo” makes a connection between art and science.

All-School Assembly
- $200 to $400 for first assembly
- $150 to $250 for each additional assembly held on the same day
- Fee determined by region
Classroom Workshops
- $175 to $250 each (minimum of four workshops required if more than 30 miles from the Science Museum)
- $1,000 to $1,200 for 10 (same day) – Great value!

Exhibits
- $1,000 to $1,200 (up to 8 hours)
- $700 to $900 (up to 3 hours) – Fun idea for PTA nights!

STARLAB® Portable Planetarium Workshops
Gather inside STARLAB for a guided look at constellations, planets, moon phases, tides, seasons and more!
- The Night Sky (Grades 3–8)
- Who in the universe are Andromeda, Pegasus and Orion? Meet characters from Greek mythology, find them represented in the constellations, and learn how the Ancient Greeks believe they got there.

MoonLab (Grades 3–6)- Watch how the Earth, sun and moon create moon
phases. Explore the lunar cycle and discover how it affects our oceans.

African Stories (Grades 3–8) - Learn the names of the constellations as seen by tribes and cultures in Ancient Africa.

Native American Mythology (Grades 3–8) - Native American life
experiences were often associated with the position of the stars. Investigate
Native American legends and fables as told through the night sky.

Nine Planets (Grades 3–12) - Terrestrials, jovians and dwarves. Study
the size and position of the principle objects in the solar system. Find out

School Partnership Programs
SOL Enrichment and Science Connections each offer a series of hour-long, hands-on workshops. SOL Enrichment is an in-class, science intensive SOL-preparation program. Science Connections is an informal, fun, after-school science complement. It is also SOL correlated. Science process skills and teamwork are fundamentals of both programs.
